Thank you

Category: Uncategorized

Thank you for your kind words and offer for prayers. Aunt JoAnn has been sent home from the hospital to spend the remaining time with family. I can’t imagine what it must be like to know you have two months left….But it certainly puts things and life in perspective for me. I feel so sad and constantly asking myself in the car how such a horrible thing could happen to such a wonderful person.

As for her, being the strong and faithful woman that she is, I can only imagine she is savoring each moment and preparing for what is next.

Hug and tell your loved one  and tell them you love them today.

Prayer Request

My mom called me this afternoon to let me know my (great) Aunt JoAnn is in the hospital. The doctors believe she has pancreatic cancer. The prognosis does not look good whatsoever. We will know more tomorrow.

This is sudden and shocking for us all. If you could kindly add her and our family to your prayers, it is appreciated..

My aunt and uncle were the last couple standing at our anniversary dance at our wedding. They have been married for over 46+ wonderful years. :) Such a wonderful, good person with a huge heart and a big smile. I love her so very much.

Wow! 2 posts from me in one day!
Sadly, neither involve any scrappy-goodness.  I’m starting to get that itch again, really! Even hubby the other day made some sly comment how I don’t use my scrapbooking room anymore except as an office! Yikes!

I did want to give an update since I’ve received many comments or emails and have been very bad at replying to emails….

1. The house selling is going okay. We had a ton of action the first 2 weeks on the market. Lots of showings…even two that were going to put down offers. But then, nothing materialized. Nada. Zilch. And it is quite depressing. We had an open house on Sunday and with our luck, it started pouring down raining just an hour before the open house! Still, our realtor thought it went well – 5 showings during the two hours. We are trying so hard to be patient. Our dream house is still on the market thank goodness.

2. I never gave info on where we are moving! Actually only 10 minutes down the road (that is if all goes according to plan). LOL. It is a new subdivision right across the street from Old Hickory Lake. They are all on really large beautiful lots – the house we want is on almost 3/4 of an acre and is filled with trees in the back! The house is what I call our 30 year house. We never plan on moving again – for at least 30 years anyway – it is that perfect! We’ve visited it at least a dozen times since we found it one month ago and have everything planned out. Sadly not everything goes accordingly to plan in life (so everyone reminds me anyway), and our dream house is now the least expensive in the entire neighborhood. And, we cannot afford/desire any more expensive of a house, so if this is all to be, this is THE ONE.  But yes,  God has a plan. So if this doesn’t work out, it’s all good. It would just be really really nice. ;)

3. I’ve been loving the weather lately – been great for outdoors stuff. I need to share my kayak pictures from our trip two weeks ago. They are hilarious! And I’m excited that we are going white water rafting with a big group of friends at the end of this month! It has been a dream since we moved here to do that! (And yes, we are going with a rafting company NOT our kayaks just to clarify – MOM!) ;)

4. If you read this blog, leave a comment! I want to check out some of your blogs! ;)

Southern Living

Category: Uncategorized

One of my favorite things about living in Tennessee is the abundance of fresh flowers and produce at little road side stands and markets. Growing up in Southern California, it was very common for Mom or Dad to stop and buy bags of oranges or big trays of strawberries from immigrant farmers at freeway off-ramps on the way home. The fresh fruit always seemed tastier to me than anything in a regular ole’ grocery store.

Obviously things don’t grow very well in Las Vegas, and anyone standing on the side of the interstate would die of heat exhaustion in the summer,  so the little wooden stands on various roads here is quite delightful. I love pointing them out to out of state visitors explaing to them how funny it is they leave their flowers and ferns (and pumpkins in the fall) out ALL NIGHT LONG – UNSUPERVISED – and get this, NO ONE STEALS ANYTHING. Crazy huh?!?!

Maples Wedding Cakes – Website Launch

Contact_2

I had the honor of redesigning the website of Maples Wedding Cakes and I’m happy to announce the launch of it as of this morning: http://www.maplesweddingcakes.com

Jay Qualls and his bakery have unbelievably beautiful and delicious cakes! Mary Alice came along for the photoshoot with myself and Dove Wedding Photography a few weeks back. His shop is filled with dozens of beautiful couture cakes to view. MWC is unique in that each cake is especially designed for each client! He actually sketches out your cake during your consultation and you taste dozens of delicious flavors.  My personal favorite flavor is orange dreamsicle. Yum! I do love the Almond as well…and strawberry…oh..I can’t decide which is best!

Be sure to check out the new site and his new blog for the latest cake creations! Best Wishes Jay! Also thank you to talented photography by Whitney Carlson from Dove. These photographs belong in Martha Stewart Weddings magazine!

PS- Maples Wedding Cakes will be having an Open House in a few short weeks – more info to come
