Baby Nursery Theme : Beach/Ocean/Surf

The big reveal of our little guy’s nursery:

This is the Conor bedding/accessory set from PB Kids…so it will look somewhat like this except we’re going to do espresso brown colored furniture.

I got this cute wooden sign on clearance that I’m going to personalize with his name on it…

And picked up this cute wire sailboat on sale as well….

At World Market, we scored not only a rustic OAR! (yes, just like the paddle in that first picture), but we also found this cute wooden beach sign (lower right)…

We’ve also picked up a small surf board, some straw picture frames, and a few different bags of seashells that I’m going to put in clear glass containers to look something like this…

I’m so excited at everything coming together…we can’t wait wait until 7 more weeks until we’re in the new house and we can order the furniture and get everything setup!

Fall Surprises

Category: Uncategorized

It’s been great spending time at the lot every weekend. Call us crazy but we head out there with coffee and newspapers and lawn chairs and hang out there in the backyard on weekend mornings. We love discovering new things that each season brings. We have summer behind us, and now fall has so many neat things in store. The woods behind us are slowly revealing themselves…these little berries are ripening probably for some birds for winter.

There are little squirrels jumping from branch to branch…and last Sunday a family of five dear came wandering down the hill behind us to check us out before running off back into the woods.

There are lots of walnut trees around us, so we’re getting used to the "thump – thump" of walnut fruit falling the ground.

They are going to be grading out the soil in the next week and already putting in some landscaping…you can bet I will be out there the week after with a few bags of different spring bulbs…I’m determined to get something to come up this first year…our old house’s new owners are going to be so lucky when this next spring comes…over three years I managed to plant at least 75 tulips + 150 daffodil + 12 hyacinth bulbs. You can bet I’ll be driving by this Spring to see how they are doing… ;)

October – by Robert Frost.

O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow’s wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away.
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes’ sake, if they were all,
Whose leaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost–
For the grapes’ sake along the wall.

20 weeks + Bahamas + Fall + New House

Category: Uncategorized

So, normally I would never post a picture of me in a bikini on my blog, but hey, it’s my 20 week preggo picture and this tankini certainly shows off the bump! Here I am on the beach at Great Stirrup Caye, Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island.

We had a fabulous time on our weekend cruise in honor of our first anniversary! We can’t wait to do it again. It was our first time cruising and definitely not our last.  I didn’t have any seasickness or any issues on the boat (though I was more than jealous of the wine drinkers at dinner). ;)

I’m really feeling pregnant these days. I’m getting tired again at night real early, I’m definitely more hungry, and I get uncomfortable back pain at times…ahhh so much fun! I managed to find a few additions to Baby Housley’s nursery while shopping in Bahamas…so we have  a few fun authentic items to add to the decor (which I’ll share this week!)

I got around to decopauging some faux pumpkins a few weeks back (see the tutorial here)…I have a little table set up with a few Halloween decor items…my house would be literally Halloween/Fall from top to bottom normally, but since we’re in the rental, it is all limited to this little table. I can’t wait for next year. :)

I’ll share a few close ups later this week of the finished projects…

And progress on the new house…I love saying that move-in is only 8 weeks away! It is planned to be anyway. :) The brick is just about done and next they start drywalling. We love how the brick came out – it’s very "used" tudor style brick.

So many cool things going on… :)

Ultrasound Pics & Birthday Recap

Category: Uncategorized

It has been a whirlwind couple of days since I shared the good news of our little boy. Here are the much requested ultrasound pictures. Which I may add, was the coolest thing ever. We had a great ultrasound tech who has been doing it for 18+ years and was so nice. After all the good shots were taken, she moved on over and let us guess what we thought it was. I think it was a little obvious – and we both said "BOY" right away! ;) He was busy doing lots of flips and waving his arms around (probably the Coke I had before the appointment in effort to wake him up and guarantee a good show!). The last picture is the 3D view…he had his little hands up for these. She said we’ll get better 3D photos later on when he’s a bit bigger.

And on Saturday I had the best 28th birthday. Lots of great cards and treats from family and friends. Brandon surprised me with a FABULOUS diaper bag from a boutique down in Franklin. He had all the ladies in the store helping him select the perfect one. And indeed it was. I love it!

We also met up with our friends for a yummy lunch at J Alexanders (delicious!) and then did lots of baby furniture nursery shopping. I was exhausted! We did find some great things that I will share soon.

Thanks again for all the good wishes that have been coming in the inbox lately. :)
