Just a quick note to pop in and remind you that the fantastic early bird rate for this year’s AMBER HOUSLEY: Inspired creative summit ends this Friday, June 14th! As I write this, there are just six seats remaining and I’m oooh-ing and ahhh-ing at all the fun swag and party details that are arriving in shipments daily at the studio.

As you can imagine, there is a whole lot of the pink, yellow, orange, coral spectrum!

I was so thrilled to get a box of these binders today that I couldn’t wait to share them. They are going to be full of amazing content from our fabulous 10 speakers and is definitely going to be an item that you reference often even after you go home from Nashville.

Hosting Nashville’s Authenticate Workshop April 17

Authenticate Workshop Nashville April 17 Whitney English Amber Housley

Whitney English announced last week that she’s bringing the one-day Authenticate workshop to Nashville and I’m delighted to be her hostess-with-the-mostess on Wednesday, April 17. You can reserve your seat here at an amazing early bird rate of $175 now through the end of February.

I first met Whitney over two years ago in the debut year of Stationery Academy. I was honored to be asked back the second year to be a speaker and just last month had the opportunity to share a room with her at the Alt Summit blogging conference (recap on that coming soon!).

Over those days together at Alt Summit, Whitney was a pro at introductions with new people. She could confidently and precisely say her why and purpose for her brand and the Day Designer without any hesitation. Repatedly.  Do you know how impactful that is? How many times does someone ask you what you do and you stammer and stumble over your words? I know I do!

We had so many great conversations that weekend at Alt Summit. Like most creative entrepreneurs, I have a dozen products and ideas hanging in the hallways (don’t we all?!). Whitney encouraged me to step back and really evaluate my mission for my brand and how all these ideas support it. Enter the idea for Authenticate Workshop…the idea for Whitney to take her Authenticate work on the road and help others hone their mission statement and core values for their brand strategy. Whitney will be traveling the US (where Southwest Airlines flies) for one-day workshops in different cities with the help of a “host” in each city.

She’s kicking things off in Nashville and I would love to see you there!

What is an Authenticate Workshop?

(From Whitney’s site:) Authenticate is a 102 level course for creative entrepreneurs designed to help you get to the heart of the matter. Authenticate is about YOU. The primary purpose of Authenticate is to help you get to the core of your brand. Mission statements, purpose statements, and why statements are things that I have sat through many a workshop jotting down ideas about, but rarely memorizing, committing to heart, and then implementing in my everyday life and business. Authenticate is about getting that hard work done, once and for all.

Authenticate is all about brand strategy, not brand design. Authenticate is all about helping entrepreneurs recognize what is authentic about who they are, and then helping them strategically position themselves to deliver their message successfully and profitably.

My Alt Design Summit Business Cards

I’m excited to be headed to Altitude Summit (alt. for short) in Salt Lake City in just a week! If you’re not familiar with it, Alt is a three-day blogging, design and social media conference held twice per year. This is my first time attending and I couldn’t be looking more forward to it. One of my goals for 2013 is to up the ante on my blogging skills and I’m always game to learn about the newest ideas and trends in digital marketing and media.

Of course, when you have this many design-focused people in one gathering, you can expect some really fab business cards!

I think this little package for my Alt business cards is definitely representative of my brand and personality in so many ways! I designed a smaller standard size card (my usual letterpress size is a bit more square) with a back side that explains some of the topics I blog about. I included a photo on it so the recipient will easily remember who I am from our chat. :)  To add the little something extra, I’m packaging each card in a small glassine bag that I’ve rubber stamped with my AH logo and including a little Valentine’s treat of a few cute conversation hearts.

Alt Summit Design Conference Business Cards by @AmberHousley

What makes this conference particularly fun for me is that I have ZERO expectations. I’m not a well-known blogger and I know very few of the “famous” bloggers outside the wedding world. I likely will be sitting next to someone important at some point and have absolutely no clue. Fun, right!? It means my intimidation factor will be at an all time low and my enthusiasm and and personality will be at an all time high! Lots of new friends and fun are ahead.

There will be some fantastic lifestyle brands I’m hoping to connect with while I’m there. By day will be dozens of focused workshops by some of the best lifestyle and design bloggers, and each night there are fun themed parties and gatherings hosted by some great sponsors. We all know how I love a great themed party!

With great design comes great fashion style…and tomorrow I’ll be sharing the clothing and outfits I have planned for the Alt conference. Stay tuned!
