Amber Housley

NYC Bridal Market Recap

Hey guys! It’s Rachel here! Along with working at Amber Housley, I am a Store Manager for B. Hughes Bridal, a couture bridal boutique here in Nashville. Every Fall and Spring I have the opportunity to attend New York Bridal Fashion Week, also known as Bridal Market, to see all the new gowns and collections of the designers we carry in our store.

There was so many beautiful gowns this year and it was so hard to pick my favorites! But some dresses did stand out more than others. Below are my favorites from designers Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, and Vera Wang.

Carolina Herrera: This dress was absolutely breathtaking. The bodice has a nude underlining to contrast the skirt with the ivory underlining.

Carolina Herrera: There were a lot of dresses this year that have removable tops and this one was beautiful. You can have the off the shoulder look for the ceremony and then have a fun strapless style for the reception.

Oscar de la Renta: This amazing take on a modern bow on the back of the dress is stunning.

Vera Wang: I love this fun bohemian take on a tulle ball gown!

Vera Wang: The ruffle detail on the bodice of this ball gown is so fun and flirty.

On the final night at Bridal Market, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Martha Stewart’s 20th Anniversary party of Martha Stewart Weddings. It was held at the Pierre Hotel and it was absolutely gorgeous. There were lots of fun party food and desserts, an amazing live band, and so many wonderful people to meet and mingle with.

Cute little love birds and myself at the Martha Stewart Party.

On the same night as the Martha Stewart Party, I also was able to attend The Knot Party. The Knot Party was held at the Library downtown in NYC and if you have never been there before, it is a must. The architecture is absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite things at the knot party was the hanging salad garden. It is such a creative and fun idea to add to any party or wedding reception. You go and “pick” your salad as if you are picking apples from a tree!

I had such a blast attending Bridal Market and I loved seeing so many new great gowns and ideas to bring back for our wonderful brides here in Nashville!

There are so many great options to choose from this Spring! Some work perfectly for a more casual garden wedding, and others are excellent for a black tie affair. As you can see, we personally prefer classic cuts with a surprise detail, like the sequined v-neck back in the navy Camilyn Beth dress and the gold soutache trim on the baby blue Lilly Pulitzer shift dress. We also adore the idea of patterned bridesmaids dresses, whether they are soft florals like the pattern on the Jenny Yoo dress or bold stripes like the pattern on the Lula Kate dress (which by the way has pockets!).

Which dress do you love most for Spring bridesmaids dresses? Is there another style that you are envisioning asking your best girl friends to wear on your big day? Let us know in the comments below!

Spring Fling At Target This Weekend

Category: AH Living, Fashion

Yesterday proved to be very dangerous at Target. I wanted to drop about just every dress I came across into my basket. Instead I dropped the first one in that had my heart at hello. The lovely coral color and the cute braided belt I couldn’t resist. A little turquoise cardigan and these champagne bejeweled flats, and I was good to go.

I really love a lot of the women’s fashion at Target..they’re always such a great price for something that I’ll get just one season’s use of. I’ll probably be wearing this outfit with my tall brown boots until Spring officially comes to Nashville in April, but I couldn’t help but get into the Spring feeling a little early!
