Amber Housley published in Bridal Guide Magazine

I was delighted to get my hands on the latest issue of Bridal Guide magazine! In it, I’m a featured wedding expert and share my ideas and thoughts on the latest trends for wedding stationery and invitation design for 2013.

A hint: more continued use of bold and vibrant color combinations as well as mixed patterns.

2012 was all about chevron pattern and in 2013 I’m finding my clients expanding to honeycomb, morroccan tile and other geometric patterns. I’m no stranger to color and it excites me to see all the shades of the rainbow clients aren’t shying away from.

You can find more information on wedding trends for 2013 in the January/February 2013 issue available on newsstands now.

Editorial Styling for Southern Weddings Magazine

It’s no secret to my close friends and family that it has been a long-time goal of mine to have my work published in Southern Weddings magazine.

To my great delight, the latest issue available on newsstands and online here, features more of my work than I could have ever imagined originally and I’m so humbly thankful and grateful for the opportunity!

Over the next few posts I’ll feature each of my contributions to Southern Weddings V5 and a few behind the scenes highlights.

The first feature is the editorial styling that opens up the five year anniversary issue. Here, Creative Director Emily Thomas and Editor-in-Chief Lara Casey wanted to marry traditional marriage vows with the culture of the South as an opener to the issues focus on love, marriage and ceremony.

The vows were written in gorgeous calligraphy by Lindsay Letters that I bound to a vintage book I had purchased at a barn sale this past Fall in a nearby county. I was saving this deep ocean-navy blue book for the perfect opportunity and this definitely was it!

A pure white magnolia bloom from my neighborhood (that smelled heavenly!), hydrangea, and pink teacup roses clipped from my own backyard garden. And my absolute favorite? That sweet little bible open to 1 Corinthians. It was given to us at the hospital on the day my son Colin was born and now a very special keepsake to our family.

My good friend and fabulous wedding photographer Cyn Kain joined me in Nashville for the shoot along with some other projects we were working on.

Above left: Cyn getting some test shots on the dining room table while Rocco snores away. Middle: In a silly moment during the visit, Cyn decided to dress up Rocco more like her own yellow lab Bella at home. Far right: Colin getting in some after-school snuggles between editing photos and doing email.

Cyn and I are over the moon excited to have contributed such a beautiful spread to Southern Weddings! Stay tuned for more features in upcoming posts.

Featured in Wedding Planner Magazine Nov/Dec 2012

I’m happy to share that I was included among some of my wedding planner and designer peers in the latest issue of Wedding Planner Magazine November/December 2012.

I was selected to share my thoughts on “What Is Your Secret to the Work / Life Balance?”

“Having clear business hours and only sending correspondence to my clients during that time has been a lifesaver for me. If I’m sending emails or responding to questions after hours or weekends, then clients are going to believe I’m always available to them – day or night. Most emails really can wait until the next business day. Since I’ve set this rule up, I’m more relaxed, focused and enjoying uninterrupted time with my family.” - Amber Housley

Happy to be included in such a great publication for the wedding industry!

Featured in Wedding Planner Magazine

I’m excited to report that Jennifer & Armand’s wedding is featured in the current issue of Wedding Planner Magazine! The editors of WPM were looking for some of the top design trends we are seeing in wedding design and our predictions for how those trends will continue in 2012. I submitted Jennifer and Armand’s wedding with it’s bold color scheme of peacock blue and blends of tangerine and magenta, as a perfect example of the unexpected but beautiful color combinations that I’m seeing with my clients.

Wedding Planner Magazine is published by the Association of Bridal Consultants that I am an active member of and designated a professional Wedding Consultant.

Jennifer and Armand’s wedding has received so much love! You can view their feature in Munaluchi and also on Southern Wedding blog here and here.
