Nashville Wedding Planning | Hermitage Plantation

One of the most historically beautiful places to get married in Tennessee is the Hermitage Plantation. It is the home of President Andrew Jackson, and is 1000 acres wide. As beautiful as the mansion is, we have found that brides love to get married in the gardens.

These gardens would be the perfect location for a wedding ceremony, don’t you think? The gardens were designed in 1819 by English gardener, William Frost. You can read more about the history of these beautiful gardens on the Hermitage Plantation website.

There are a few other locations at Hermitage Plantation for you to choose to have your ceremony and reception in addition to the gardens. The Cabin by the Spring is a beautifully rustic cabin that offers a more country chic feel to ceremonies and receptions than the other venues in the plantation. It has a maximum capacity of 300, allowing for all of your friends and family to gather together on your special day.

Tulip Grove Mansion provides an entirely different feel and setting for ceremonies and receptions with its Grecian style structure. It is perfect for a couple who is looking for an elegant and regal space to get married. Have your ceremony in the mansion, ask guests to gather outside for cocktail hour, and then invite them back inside for your reception to enjoy dinner and dancing!

The plantation also holds the Hermitage Church, perfect for couples (like Jessica!) who have always dreamed of getting married in a church. Hold your ceremony in the church, and then choose from one of the other locations to host your reception! We think that would be a beautiful combination. If you are interested in any of the above venue options, we highly suggest reading more about the Hermitage Plantation venue spaces to get a sense of everything included with each venue.

Have y’all ever been to the Hermitage Plantation? Don’t you agree that it would be a lovely setting for a wedding?

The Special Event 2014 Nashville Recap

Every year, there is a conference hosted for wedding and event professionals called The Special Event. This year, it took place in Nashville at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, so Jessica was lucky enough to attend! There are various aspects of The Special Event, including educational courses, an exhibit hall, wedding galleries, and a grande staged wedding that turns into a party. It is a fantastic way to get a peak into the new wedding trends for the year while networking with other vendors.

One of the most spectacular aspects of The Special Event was the exhibit hall. It was rows upon rows of various wedding and event vendors, from rental companies to linen companies to florists. It was fantastic to walk through the rows and see everything displayed as you would see it at a wedding. Much better than simply looking at products online or in a lookbook!

My two favorite companies from the exhibit hall were Bedazzle my Bonbons and Cort Event Furnishings. They both had products that I had never personally seen before, and would be thrilled to use at weddings in 2014.

Bedazzle my Bonbons features glittered chocolate truffles that are both decor and delicious treats. They come in a variety of chocolate truffle flavors and glitter colors so that you can perfectly tailor them to your event or wedding.

Cort Event Furnishings had some of the most striking and unique pieces of furniture of all the rental companies I saw on the floor. My three favorite pieces included this outdoor seating area with faux grass and bushes, the black and white striped tent (reminds me of Kate Spade!), and the Renaissance style white and blue chairs.

There were also a number of tablescape designs featured in the exhibit hall. Wedding vendors set out to create the most visually appealing, unique table designs within a certain price point. This tablescape was by far my favorite. It was titled “the perfect match” and featured place settings on top of vintage tennis rackets, preppy plaid accents, and a vertical centerpiece with more vintage tennis rackets and tennis balls. The entire table was preppy perfection, and would be darling for a spring or summertime intimate outdoor wedding reception or rehearsal dinner.

The creative team who put together this tablescape included Eventures Party Rentals, Mosaic, Mrs. Post Fine Stationery & Gifts, Social Butterflies, LLC, and Tanarah Luxe Florals.

After walking through the exhibit hall, I had the chance to see the wedding galleries. There were four galleries. Three of them were designed as a wedding reception, and the fourth was a wedding cake display. My favorite gallery of the four was this Frozen inspired wedding reception designed by Fleur de Lis Events and Design. They used blue uplighting to create a winter cool environment, and decorated the table with elegant crystal pieces. However, the most stunning aspect of the gallery was the tree. This picture doesn’t do it justice, y’all. The leaves on the branches were illuminated, giving it an etherial feel. It was simply stunning.

I had such an amazing time at The Special Event this year, and would love to attend another one in the future. Did any of y’all have the pleasure of attending this year? If so, what were your favorite vendors or designs? I would love to know!

Southern Weddings V6 Nashville Launch Party Recap

We just had the best time at the Southern Weddings V6 Satellite Launch Party we hosted at StudioWed Nashville earlier this month! Friends, wedding industry vendors, and loyal Southern Weddings readers all gathered together to read through the pages of V6 while enjoying an Arnold Palmer sweet tea and lemonade cocktail and the most delicious Southern delicacies we could have asked for.

A special thank you to the talented Leslie Walker of Leslie and Dusty Photography for capturing these beautiful pictures of the night!

Y’all, these are hands down the best biscuits I’ve ever tasted in my life. Carrie of Callie’s Biscuits makes a variety of biscuit flavors, and she provided us with two of our favorites – black pepper bacon biscuits and cinnamon biscuits. Two of the most heavenly savory and sweet biscuits we have ever tried. They melt in your mouth!

Chef’s Market also provided us with the perfect Southern treats, from muffaletta to mini fried green tomato bites topped with pimento cheese to red velvet truffles for dessert, they really thought of everything that epitomizes Southern food! We had to make a Firefly Spiked Arnold Palmer cocktail to accompany all of this delicious food, in a mason jar dispenser of course!

One of the best decisions we made was to have Cosmo Creations bring their photo booth to the party! We spiffed up the backdrop with tassel garlands from The Flair Exchange, the colors were so spot on with the colors of V6 that we knew we had to get them!

Everyone had so much fun joking around with their props, from big heart sunglasses to pink lips, as well as the props we made. Yes, we did indeed make silver glittered “y’all”, “SW” and a heart! We also printed out some of the Southern Weddings Southern Sayings and Southern Phrase of the Day sayings, which made great props.

Here are some of our favorite pictures from the night, all captured by Cosmo Creations!

How sweet is this last picture of our wedding industry friend Kelly and her husband with the “Love and marriage go together like biscuits and gravy” Southern phrase of the day card? That is exactly what V6, and this party, were all about celebrating!

We feel so blessed to be surrounded by all of these amazing friends who share the same love of love as we do who come together to support such an incredible magazine.

Thank you once again to all of our amazing sponsors for the night!
