Stumped on what content to include in a retreat you are dreaming up?
Finding your focus can be a little overwhelming at first—there are an endless amount of topics out there and so many approaches to use when presenting them. Figuring out what will actually resonate with your customers can be tricky.
It can feel like a lot, but fret no more, sister! You can do it, and I’m here to help with some tips for narrowing your focus and uncovering what to teach on in a live retreat setting.
Take a Poll
Who better to ask than the people you’ll be teaching?!
So simple, yet so effective!
I have found that polling my customers with around five different options, topics, or themes is a great way to get a pulse on what they want to learn. You can even give them the ability to choose the top three things they’d be the most interested in hearing you teach about in a live setting.
Doing this narrows down the options for your customers and allows them to feel like they can respond. And in return, it gifts you the data needed to create an invaluable customer experience.
Send an Intake Form
So you already have your retreat scheduled, and the sales page is up and running, but as you’re working on the content and curriculum, you don’t know what to include or how to maximize your time with your clients.
Work smarter, not harder!
After your attendees have purchased tickets, encourage them to fill out an intake form asking them questions like:
- What do you want to get out of this live event?
- What are you struggling with right now in your business?
- How can I best support you?
When the responses are in, take a look at them and discover a common thread. What theme do you keep seeing over and over and over?
As you’re planning your retreat, make sure to keep that theme in mind and leave room for flexibility. You can use what you learned from them and the extra time in your retreat schedule to tailor the in-person experience and really make them feel like their time was well spent with you.
Think It Through
When you’re looking at all the content you’ve created, be sure to focus on what would best be taught in a live setting. You might already have courses, programs, and content you’re really passionate about.
So out of all of the resources you have, consider what would translate well and be even more dynamic in a live setting.
Think about:
- What topic or theme would be really helpful if people could brainstorm together in person or get feedback in person rather than at home or on their own?
- How could you take your already existing curriculum and take it to a whole new amazing level in a live experience?
You have already done the hard work of creating your content; all that’s left is to add a little in-person pizzazz.
Whatever you decide, your event is going to be great because you were made for this!
