Are you ready to make 2019 your best year yet?! Inspired by my Sweet Life Sisters who are building their dream lives, today, I’m sharing a few things that may be holding you back from reaching your goals.
1. Worrying What Others Think of You, your business, dreams, and goals
I am giving you permission to go after your dreams and goals without fear of what others think of you. The best way to combat this fear is to go find other dreamers and go-getters that are like you, who are also going after these big things. You don’t have to do this race alone!
In fact, there’s an open invitation to the Sweet Life Sisterhood. We are a group of women entrepreneurs who are creating thriving businesses and joy-filled lives. You are now apart of it too, just by saying “I’m in!” Join your fellow supportive sisters and put those fears and worries aside.
2. Wasting Your Time Scrolling On Social Media
I want you to be using the platforms intentionally and not aimlessly. Sometimes when we have to much to do on our plates, we instinctively pick up our phones, start scrolling and zoning out. I would encourage you to stop scrolling and think about what you could be using that time on your business for or maybe it’s just about finding an alternative, such as picking up a business book or finding opportunities for growth in your business.
Scrolling also leads to unnecessary comparisons – what they have and what you don’t, what they are doing and wish you were doing, etc. Stay focused and stop that scrolling.
3. Avoiding Setting Real Goals for your days/weeks/months
Goal setting involves more than just things to do and some numbers in your head. You need to make an action plan. Use planning worksheets or even just a journal. By writing your goals down you are better able to hold yourself accountable. Another way to hold yourself accountable – share your goals with someone else.
4. Surrounding Yourself with the Wrong People
Think about who you are spending your time with and who is occupying you brain space. You need to uplevel yourself. Put yourself in the room or the knowledge space with the right people – those are doing and dreaming and going after the things you want to do.
5. Not Investing..time, money, and more
How much time have you spent reading books? I found that the most successful entrepreneurs are actually getting better at skills with books. Think back to your school days, to better yourself you had to study and learn new skills.
You can’t just take shortcuts to get to the finish line, you need to grow your skills and grow as a business leader and as a thought leader and be open to new ideas through learning and studying.
So, as this new year gets rolling, think about how can you close the gap on where you want to be in your business and what skills and education do you need to get there. What coaching programs, courses, books, or whatever else it is that you need to invest in yourself to get yourself to where you want to be. You have to make the time, money, and space investment for.
6. Not Asking the Question
‘The answer will always be no, unless you ask the question.’ Think about the questions you need to answer for your business and for goal setting, such as: where do you want to be in your business at the end of the month, year?
7. Not Celebrating the Wins
Entrepreneurs tend to move way too fast. They meet goals their goals (short or long term) and move on to what’s next. How can you celebrate your accomplishments? Start by listing them on a piece of paper by your computer or in your journal or another platform.
By keeping track of your goals and celebrating your progress that’s how big wins can happen. Celebrating the smaller wins will bring you towards the bigger goals. When you record you accomplishments, big and small, you find more gratitude, which leads you to feel more momentum and then you will move forward on all your goals and dreams.
