Let me take you back to 2011 when I first planted the seed for what would become my first-ever retreat in 2012. Back then, I was already in the early stages of my business, working as a wedding planner, graphic designer, and marketing professional. Online courses were just starting to emerge, and I was experiencing the benefits of workshops and retreats myself.

But as much as I loved online courses, I realized that there was something missing—a deeper connection with people. I thought to myself, “Why not create my own retreat, bring people together in person, and see what magic happens?” So, in 2012, I hosted my first small, one-day workshop in Nashville. It was a modest beginning, but it was a game-changer.

Over the years, I’ve learned what makes a retreat truly transformational. It's not just about booking a beautiful location or having flashy speakers. A successful retreat comes down to three key components, what I like to call the Retreat Trifecta:

1. Compelling Content – This is what pulls people in. You need to offer something of value that makes people feel equipped, capable, and excited to learn more.
2. Extraordinary Experience – It’s not just about the content; it’s about creating an experience that surprises and delights your attendees. From thoughtful planning to the little details, an extraordinary experience ensures that your attendees feel taken care of and excited to return.
3. Real Transformation – This is the heart of a successful retreat. It’s about creating moments that change lives. You want your attendees to walk away feeling like they’ve experienced something magical and transformational, not just a good time.

When all three of these elements are combined, you create an experience that attendees can’t stop talking about, and they’ll keep coming back for more.

I’ve seen this firsthand in my own business, and I’m constantly inspired by the ripple effect that retreats have.
